Unifrutti Distribution (established in 2017) is the result of the merging of various Unifrutti operations present in Italy. The consolidation of MAFFCO, Unifrutti Fresh, and Direct Fruit into a singular entity allows Unifrutti Distribution to maintain it's various specialties in niche areas while at the same time provide an over-arching platform in order to better serve the entire country as well as major retailers around Europe.
UniMarche & UniPuglia are the two latest investments by the Unifrutti group made in Italy with the focus of increasing local production of Pears, Peaches, as well as new grape varieties. MAFFCO was established in May 2006 after the incorporation of Eleuterifrutta, a firm operating in the fresh fruit business with more than 30 years experience. MAFFCO is one of Italy’s leading importers and distributors of fresh fruit. Located in the Valdaso valley area, UniMarche plantations also avail of storage facilities and small offices to handle the cultivation of Coscia Pears, seedless grapes, and flat peaches known as “Paraguayos”. With 80% of business focused towards larger retail chains (Auchan-SMA, Carrefour, Conad, Coop, Eurospin etc.), MAFFCO is a highly specialized service provider. With a wide range of state-of-the-art sorting and repacking equipment (12+ packing and sizing machines) MAFFCO has the ability to supply a multitude of SKUs (girsac, vertbags, punnets, etc). Meanwhile, further south in Acquaviva delle Fonti near Bari, Unipuglia will work primarily seedless grapes and Paraguayos as well. On this land a small, renovated farmhouse serves as offices and living space for employees. Since 2011 MAFFCO operates a bananas ripening and distribution centre in Ancona, Italy allowing for 10M Kg of product to be handled a year and aside from servicing the local market MAFFCO is also involved in exporting premium quality Italian fruit to neighbouring countries. Set up in 2008, Unifrutti Fresh was a trading and consulting company offering market services to exporters. The organization now leverages its know-how, experience and organization to supply commercial assistance in order for exporters to gain the most in the development of their business activities. Unifrutti Distribution can provide expert information and advice about product quality, various packing solutions, possible customers, pricing required in the target market, and existing conditions or restrictions for target territories. On top of these services Unifrutti Distribution is able to make the necessary arrangements to ensure credit collections on singular agreements with the final customers.
